Convergent and discriminant validity of the WISC-V Picture Span (PS) subtest was assessed via correlational and regression analyses using measures of auditory short-term memory, auditory working memory, visual working memory, and math achievement. Scores were obtained from an archived database of neuropsychological test data using a sample of 36 participants (41.7% female) aged six- to fifteen years old. Significant relationships were found between PS and measures of both auditory working memory (r = .433, p = .008) and visual working memory (r = .501, p = .002) but not between PS and a measure of short-term auditory memory ( r = .227, p = .183), thus providing some evidence for discriminant and convergent validity. Regression analysis provided additional evidence of discriminant validity, suggesting that PS is primarily a visuospatial sketchpad task. PS predicted performance on only one measure of math achievement
