Is 21<super>st</super> century women's solo performance creating a new feminist aesthetic? Based upon the adoption of a pluralistic view within feminist criticism and the inclusion of a variety of intercultural themes and modes, this thesis explores what might be a newly developing social process which links the autonomous nature of women's intercultural solo performance with that of the ongoing feminist quest for an identifying aesthetic. After a review of the productions readily available in print during 2001, of the sixteen from the 1980s, thirteen percent fell within the defining intercultural parameters set forth in this thesis. Markedly, of the sixty works from the 1990s, those in the intercultural division rose to 46 percent. As such, the conclusion, based upon the continuing increase in both published solo performance works and the proclivity toward intercultural inclusions, observes that we are witnessing the formation of a new feminist aesthetic residing within this interstice
