| In light of current trends in evidence-based training, the current study is an examination of practices, attitudes, and beliefs regarding the development and outcome evaluation of professional conferences in psychology, as a mode of continuing education and professional development. Eighty-three leaders of professional psychology organizations completed a survey to assess their understanding of competency practices within organizations with which they identify, in addition to their general perceptions and attitudes about psychology conference development and evaluation. Based on survey responses, psychology organizations more often consult with colleagues than consulting research in the development of programs. The most common outcome measured is satisfaction with overall program and it is often measured using surveys. While respondents usually agreed that psychology conferences are important and helpful, they had more variability in satisfaction with current practices in psychology conference development and outcome measurement |
